The First Official Single off M.I.A.'s New Album is 'XXXO' and Drops May 11

M.I.A. revealed to BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe on his Monday show that the first official single off her fourth (STILL untitled) album will be track number 7 called 'XXXO', produced by Blaqstarr (safe @RobBmore for the heads up) and it will be released on iTunes the 11th of May.

She told Zane quickly via telephone that "It’s kinda [about] being disconnected in L.A. and not having cell phone service or just not being able to kinda leave there for 18 months" and being isolated, probably has something to do with them tweets we saw back in late February.

Hype Williams is tapped for the video and well, I'm so STOKED.

Also, peep this darn cute cover of 'Born Free' by Passporte Royale and since it's Friday let's throw in a real goodie from 2008 to make the time go faster, M.I.A. and Rye Rye remixes Busy Signal's 'Tic Toc':

Christina Aguilera - 'Not Myself Tonight' Official Video

I love that Christina Aguilera is going back to a more urban vibe on her upcoming fourth album "Bionic" which will be released in the beginning of June. I love that she worked with Ester Dean (who has done the unthinkable in my eyes and worked with Chris Brown AGAIN for a featured on her upcoming single 'Big Things', WHY?! Ester, simply why?!) and Polow for this lead single called 'Not Myself Tonight'. I love that Hype Williams directed the video and I love how it echoes Madonna's more explicit work in an orgy of second skin latex ensembles:

Trina ft. Nicki Minaj & Lady Saw - 'Dang-a-Lang' Proper & Saw's 'Hold Yuh'

Think I've already said all there is to say about Trina's new album that will be hitting the world on Tuesday (pre-order here), so here's just the proper version of 'Dang-A-Lang' and some stunning new promo pics that I got yesterday:

Also, donät miss Lady saw's contribution over the 'Hold Yuh'-riddim, she absolutely tears it apart and Gyptian, you're history, I'm sorry but Lady Saw is the only one I need on this.

Blaqstarr's New Single 'Oh My Darling'

After finishing up working on M.I.A.'s latest album, Blaqstarr is gearing up for his own debut release later this year on M.I.A.'s imprint N.E.E.T Recordings.

Here's the new single called 'Oh My Darling', quite catchy but definitely no 'Shake It to the Ground' or 'Ryder Girl':

Sidenote: Fuck how I hate black lipstix.

Drake's Next Single - 'Find Your Love' (produced by KanYe West)

'Find Your Love' is the second single off Drake's debut album "Thank Me Later" and is produced by none other than KanYe West. Love it, way better than 'Over' and with a lil KanYe-ish 808-vibe. The video is already done, it was shot together with Mavado in Jamaica earlier this month and Anthony Mandler was put back in the director’s chair for a second round.

"Thank Me Later" drops the 15th of June.

Whoop, it's time for the third great mixtape of the day!

Red Cafe & DJ Superstar Jay present Shakedown's covergirl, Lore'l. Prolly most known to be the featured rapper on 'Tap It' by Red Cafe & DJ Spinking, 'Tonight' by Fabolous & Red Cafe, 'Why R U' Remix by Amerie, 'Hottest In The Hood' Remix w/ Lloyd Banks, Juelz Santana, Busta Rhymes, but I tell you, she's also one of the many talented females in the game you should keep an extra eye on:

Dizzee Rascal - 'Dirtee Disco' Official Video Teaser

The official video for Dizzee Rascal's upcoming single 'Dirtee Disco' which drops the 24th of May will premiere on Saturday May 1st, 'til then peep the little teaser, makes me think of ferry trips to Finland:

M.I.A. Album Details & 'Born Free' Ninjasonik Remix

Just as predicted, M.I.A. makes it spring 2007 all over again. Every little thing she does make the Internet go bat shit crazy and I love every minute of it, she never conforms, she does what the fuck she wants and whatever she might do it always seems right.

Monday's after the ginger-apartheid-video dropped M.I.A. took over Pitchfork's Twitter-account and posted a quite special twit-pic, the tracklist for her upcoming third, yet untitled, album which will be released the 29th of June:

According to Sony Music Japan, the album will be released in Japan first, the 23rd of July, 6 days earlier than the rest of the world and lists names such as Blaqstarr, Diplo, Rusko, Derek E. Miller of Sleigh Bells and Switch among the collaborators and that release will feature additional bonus tracks, not visible on the tracklist above.

Now Mad Decent reveals how M.I.A.'s latest talk about the world 'Born Free' was created:

""It was a royal mess of all our good buds- Switch, John Hill, and Diplo plus Iggor Cavalera (1/2 Mixhell, ex-Sepultura)! All those dudes in a room, a generous sample of Suicide, sick sick drumming from Iggor (and here's another tidbit for u - it was recorded on POPO's shitty ass drumset at the mausoleum!) --- and you got it"

And speaking of 'Born Free', now Ninjasonik goes in on the whole action in their own special crunk-punk way:

Peep the extended version below, Ninjasonik's debut album "Art School Girls" was released last week on Green Owl. Listen on Spotify here.

Theophilus London – "I Want You" Mixtape

Theophilus London just dropped his third highly anticipated mixtape "I Want You", haven't had time to listen to it at all besides the title track and Marvin Gaye-cover (the track that sparked the whole mixtape) but any guy who poses with a black cat on the cover is great in my book:

Olivia's "Under the Radar" Mixtape, the Drake Feature & Drake's Stage Kiss

The former first lady of G-Unit, Olivia has been completely off the radar (at least mine) ever since the hype of her 'Twist It' and feature on 'Candy Shop' died out, but recently she's been the hot topic in a messy investigation regarding one special track off her brand new mixtape "Under the Radar".

The track in question is 'Control' and is said to feature Drake. However, Drizzy had a lil' something to say about it all when the track surfaced:

"I support artist collaborations and sampling music that inspires you but I don’t support taking unauthorized recordings and marketing them as features. I’ve never worked with Olivia and I apologize to any fan who was duped into thinking that 'Control' was a collaboration of mine."

Olivia’s manager, Rich Dollaz responded with the following statement:

"Number one, we never said we worked with Drake. Number two, the Canadian producers who did ['Control'], Sold Out Entertainment, we sent them our part back. They leaked out the record which is why I’ve always said the record been leaked, not because we wanted to diss Drake, but because we understand what it was. We never worked with Drake, we did out half the record and they did their half.

The producers put together the record and leaked it before they confirmed with Drake. We don’t really care. We’re not pressed about it, because it’s a mixtape record to us, so it is what it is. We never planned to do anything with it, but put it on a mixtape so it’s no big deal.

However, it's a pretty good track so peep it below with the rest of the mixtape featuring 50 Cent, Serani, DJ Webstar and Maino:

1. Intro with Ed Lover
2. 'Take It Off' (Remix) ft. Maino
3. 'Control' ft. Drake
4. 'When It’s Real'
5. Interview with Ed Lover
6. 'In My Bedroom' ft. 50 Cent
7. 'Lonely Girl'
8. 'I Got You' ft. Webstar
9. 'Rub Me Up' ft. Serani
I0. 'Get It In' (Freestyle)
11. 'Next 2 You'
12. 'Never Too Far'
13. Rich Dollaz Speaks
14. 'Here We Go Again'
15. Mike Epps Outro

And speaking of Drake for that matter, seen when his lipsing that young girl on stage this week? Now (of course) the interwebz massive hates on the girl (we're still trapped in this stigma and it's 2010, sad), calls her a whore/groupie which is so fucked up in so many ways I don't even know where to begin:

Okay or not okay? I dunno, I'm actually getting a bit uncomfortable watching it. Light years from when Akon dry humped that under-aged chick on stage some years ago but still, a bit uncomfortable.

However, will be quite interesting to see how all this plays out and I'm looking forward to see Drake this summer at Roskilde.

Major Lazer - 'Pon De Floor' (The Streets Remix)

Mike Skinner goes in on 'Pon De Floor' and it make sense and no sense what so ever at the same time. Can't decide whether I hate it or LOVE it actually, however, Major Lazer's 'Pon De Floor' EP is out now, go grab it, besides the Streets remix and the radio edit it features additional remixes from Drop The Lime, Blue Bear and Camo UFO, all damn good.

And since it was an awful long time I even mentioned Major Lazer (the only lazer I've been involved with the past weeks is aka. the best site evuuuur), here's another great treat. I got mad love for Rizzla and his Cunty refixes and his take on 'Hear the Bassline' ft. Ms. Thing, so good!:

Maluca's Next Single - 'Loca' (prod. by Oliver Twizt)

Maluca's debut single 'El Tigeraso' still goes pretty warm over at my place but I've been longing for something new from the self proclaimed "1/2 Dominican 1/2 Pain in the ass"-chica with cans as hair curlers and here it is!

Yes, you could hear Maluca's upcoming next single in Buraka Som Sistema's essential mix which I featured a couple of weeks back, the track is a full on club banger called 'Loca' and is produced by Oliver Twizt.

Simply amazing, can't wait for the official release, which will be soon on Mad Decent.

Kelis, Please Do Dubstep Instead of Sordid Euro-Tech!

Who saw Kelis at Santo's Playhouse earlier this week? Did she actually wore the same white lace one-piece that Nicki Minaj had on during MTV Spring Break? Someone, please enlighten me. Haha, I actually find Kelis clothing-issues to be more interesting than her music and that sort of speaks volumes on just how far off the grid she has gone. If you were over at Santo's you know how her past and new work are aeons set apart from each-other, I've seen the footage from the concert and old songs like 'Milkshake' wins over new ones like '4th of July' on walkover basically.

But no matter how much her new sound appaules me, I must say I find my self humming to 'Acapella' sometimes and here's a set of three nice remixes of the track I've received this week, all embarking some good basslines and a lil' dubstep flava. A good combination, esp. for Kelis who was excellent on Crookers take on the genre in 'No Security'. Picture Kelis go genre hopping to dubstep instead of euro-tech who's expiration date was way due 1997, that would be rather interesting and most of all fun!

Uffie ft. Pharrell - 'ADD SUV' Remixes & N.E.R.D.'s New Single 'Hot N' Fun'

Mariah Carey doesn't do stairs, I don't do cars and the rap worlds fascination of them cars is really ridiculous to me. Well, I do enjoy L'Trimm's masterpiece 'We Like The Cars That Go Boom' but otherwise nah. Not feeling it. Like the other day I received some mail from a special car company, proud to tell me that Justin Timberlake had teamed up with a boring ass rockband from Sweden to make song to be used in the commercial for their latest model. I actually took time and listened to it, pure waste of time really, as it was a real snooze fest from the very beginning to the bitter end. The track was real bad, but well, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a future hit on the radio.

Nuff about them cars, but this is why I really like Uffie's latest single 'ADD SUV' ft. Pharrell as it mocks around with the whole car-fixation real good.

The single will drop the 24th of May and except for the original it features remixes from both Armand van Helden and Hudson Mohawke. Peep Armand van Helden's remix from Annie Mac's show earlier this week below.

And speaking of mr. Pharrell Williams for that matter, N.E.R.D. will release a brand new album called "Nothing" the 15th of June and the first single off that is this pleasant piece ft. Nelly Furtado called 'Hot N' Fun'. Enjoy the proper version below and yeah, this summer will sure be both hot and fun, so many good releases it's ridiculous.

New Track from M.I.A. - 'Born Free'!

COT DAMN! Here's what I was talking about yesterday, the Twit-vid will probably be of this new M.I.A. track called 'Born Free' which you may already have experienced live:

Wow! Not what I expected, at all! But I like it, sounds like early riot grrrl to me. You know, Bikini Kill around 1991-92 or Kathleen Hanna's solo-project some years later called Julie Ruin.

It's like she embodies the pure essence of 'Rebel Girl' and takes the old dirty riot grrrl-sound and updates it with a fresh vibe for 2010 with her unique flava.

What do you people think about it?

New Heat from JDP & The Hood Internet!

I've said it before and I say it again, JDP's upcoming mixtape "Purple" will be sooo good! Just listen to this new track called 'Lights Out (Girls to the Floor)'. "Purple" will be released in a couple of weeks, in the middle of May and every track will be different from the rest. If you follow JDP on Twitter you seen tweets between him and Adam Tensta, sooo stoked to hear what they have been cooking up this time.

The Hood Internet have already given 'Lights Out (girls to the Floor)' their royal remix treatment, peep it below along with another remix they did of a Chi-town based act, the indie-pop darlings Skybox. Skybox just released their sophomore album "Morning After Cuts" and is riding the critical praise to an appearance at Lollapalooza this summer.

Also, if you wanna join on the remix fun, and of course you do, JDP wants it too as he think it'd be dope to see what people come up with, here's the 'Lights Out (Girls to the Floor)' acapella. So give it your best and drop the result in my DropBox.
