KanYe West & Jay-Z ft. Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj & Justin Vernon - 'Monster' off Their Upcoming EP "Watch the Throne"

Yesterday during KanYe West's new institution "G.O.O.D. Fridays" (where he will be dropping a new tune every Friday 'til the 25th of December) he revealed that he and Jay-Z is about to release a five track EP later this year called "Watch the Throne". He also unleashed the first track off the release, 'Monster' featuring Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver).

Also, here's another brand new release from the new installment of the "Lime Light"-series, Nicki Minaj's 'Check It Out' featuring Will.I.Am that samples one of my fave guilty pleasures from the 1980's: The Buggles - 'Video Killed the Radio Star'. However, this is not the final product which has been confirmed by Nicki on Twitter.

Cee-Lo Green - 'Fuck You' (Emynd Baltimore Club Edit)

Simplicity is the key and one man who certainly knows that is Emynd. His remix of Cee-Lo Greens's 'Fuck You' that has spread like a wild fire over the Internet this week is clean, simple and absolutely brilliant.

Emynd kept it tasteful as he kept the sequence nearly identical to the original, just updated the song to a more contemporary feel by adding the Baltimore dick kick beat, some Think break, chops and claps to it.

So, all you DJs, and everyone else of course, here you go, tailor made to make the floor pleased during the whole weekend.

Sky Ferreira Performs 'One' Live at BBC Switch's "The 5:19 Show"

BBC Switch's "The 5:19 Show" is probably the most annoying show ever shown on the BBC network, it even beats the herb lady with the crazy earrings that was on BBC Food back in the day.

But well, Sky Ferreira is currently in London so she joined the studio today for a chat and a game of Flamingbowl (some Alice in Wonderland-like crochet) and performed her debut single 'One' live, well worth a watch:

'One' is out now and buy it off iTunes and you US peeps can buy it over here.

R.I.P. Aaliyah: DJ Still Life - "Tropicaaliyah" EP

It's now 9 years (nine?!! gosh I'm OLD) sine Aaliyah passed away in that plane crash after filming the music video for the single 'Rock the Boat' and here's the best honour I've seen all day. It comes from DJ Still Life and is a four track long EP simply called "Tropicaaliyah", featuring great tropical takes on some of the most memorable Aaliyah classics:

African Grime: Listen to DJ /Rupture's "CIAfrica"

After Matt Shadetek's huge solo album "Flowers" comes another great release from the Dutty Artz-camp, /DJ Rupture's "CIAfrica".

When African music sort of has been on the hype the last three or four years this is something else. It's not kuduro, it's not very dancey at all, not at least what we are used to when it comes to Africa and bass. Instead it's abrasive, synthetic, angular, lyric-driven music. CIA stands for Clan Des Indigenes Accables of United States of Africa and "CIAfrica" is heavy, grimy, African rap straight from Babi, Cote D'Ivoire featuring producer Green Dog (aka Amadou Komara), underground hero Manusa (one of the Abidjan rap scene's founding fathers) and my fave Nasty among others.

Stream the whole release below:

Also, peep the official video for Manusa's 'J'Fuck':

King Fantastic - 'Why? Where? What?' Official Video ft. Kristina Rose #NSFW

This brand new video from King Fantastic, a electro/grime inspired duo from Los Angeles, featuring porn star Kristina Rose is truly amazing. Sure, it's a complete skinorama, #NSFW to the full extent, but unlike the typical rap video, Kristina actually stars as the subject rather than the object only put there to serve as eye candy. I bet pretty much every girl I know can related to this, absolutely brilliant:

'Why? Where? What?' is taken off King Fantastic's debut album "Finger Snaps and Gun Claps" that was released independently earlier this year, you can download it for free below.

"He's an Xbox and I'm more Atari": Cee-Lo - 'Fuck You'

I know I know, I'm like 72 hours late on this and unlike the rest of the music world I don't think that Cee-Lo Green's 'Fuck You', the first offer from his upcoming album "Lady Killer" that will be released the 4th of October, is the best tune of 2010. However, I do co-sign on that it is mad catchy and I love the line: "I guess he's an Xbox and I'm more Atari":

Also, yesterday 50 Cent of all people decided to add his verse to it, have a listen below.

Diamond - 'Lotta Money' Official Video ft. Gucci Mane

Earlier this year Diamond aka. Ms. 32 Flavours caught a new solo deal, this time with Records/Jive and here's the official video for the buzz single 'Lotta Money' off her upcoming solo debut that will drop late 2010/early 2011.

The video is directed by Dr. Teeth and features cameos by Gucci Mane, Verse Simmonds, Princess, Lil Chuckee, Rasheeda and many more:

Diamond and Princess broke my heart back in 2008 (or was it earlier?) when they decided to drift apart from Crime Mob and each other. Like together Diamond and Princess was a strong force, but well, they are on their 0wn as well, still wonder where Princess' "Black Barbie" is thou. Well, hopefully this brings some fresh wind to the sails.

But to celebrate the old golden days of the Mob, and in honour the our late and beloved Jesper, here's 'Stilettos (Pumps)', the Krazy Fiesta way.

PURPL PoP - 'The Way' Remix Competition - and the Winner Is...

The PURPL PoP remix competition for 'The Way' that First Up! and a four other sites launched early July together with Fat! Records and PURPL Pop is now over. The entries are in (there were a lot!) and after much deliberation the deciding vote has been cast by PURPL PoP themselves. And the winner is...

Shooting Horses!

PURPL PoP - The Way (Shooting Horses Remix)

Firstly... congratulations! How does it feel to have won?

Thanks it feels great. I honestly wasn't expecting it. It's really nice to have had such a positive response to my remix from everyone I've played it to so yeah… I'm chuffed.

What do you think of 'The Way'?

I think it's a big feel good summer tune, and it's certainly mighty catchy. I'm looking forward to hearing what else PURPL PoP have in store.

For those that don't know you yet please tell us a little about Shooting Horses…

My name's Rob Swaine, I'm from South West London, the area with the low crime rate, and I make house music. I took my name from the 1930's American crime fiction novel, "They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?", and you can rest assured that I don't physically shoot horses. Or do I..? I don't.

What is you current production set up?

Very basic: Just me, in my bedroom with my Macbook and a copy of Logic. The glue to the setup is my pair of Genelec 8030As, my pride and joy. I'd only be half the man I am today without them.

How long have you been making dance music? What inspired you to start?

I've been making electronic music in various forms for the last 6 years, since the end of sixth form. I was the drummer in several bands at the time and used to do drum and bass remixes of our studio recordings. They weren't very good but I had fun doing it. It was only when I got to Nottingham and started DJing that I got into house music. It seemed the logical step to have a go at making some beats of my own and now after a year of concentrated production, I feel I'm finally getting somewhere with it.

What is next for Shooting Horses?

I've got a few gigs coming up in London and Nottingham so I'm looking forward to DJing again. And of course, loads more production. I've done a fair few remixes lately so I'm going to spend a bit of time on some originals and hone in on my own sound. I'd love to have an EP of my own out by the end of the year/early next year and maybe play some festivals next summer. So yeah... I've got ambitious plans but everyone needs a challenge eh.

"The Way Remix EP" will be out on Fat! records the 20th of September. 'til then, download First Up!'s own favourite of all the entries below from Trev J, Philly, aka. Tha 1 who Trevs:

Katy B - 'Katy on a Mission' Single Release & The Count & Sinden's - 'Hold Me'

Katy B is like the only female name that has been added to the huge lineup to Rinse's 16th Birthday party that will go down on my own birthday (woop woop), the 10th of September at Fabric (peep the Facebook event and the full lineup here), but hopefully her debut single 'Katy on a Mission', produced by none other than Benga, out today on Rinse will change things around in the future.

The single release includes the original as well as a huge remix by Roska:

Katy B - Katy On a Mission (Roska Remix)

and another tune from Katy called 'Louder', produced by Zinc:

Katy B - Louder

Available on all good digital outlets, like iTunes & Amazon to name a few.

Besides 'Katy on a Mission', Katy has some big things in the pipeline as she provides vocals on the absolutely mental 'Hold Me' from The Count and Sinden's upcoming debut album "Mega Mega Mega" that drops tomorrow on Domino, a feature on Magnetic Man's track 'Perfect Stranger' as well as a collaboration with Ms. Dynamite, slated to appear on her own upcoming debut album.

KanYe West ft. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz - 'Power' (Remix)

So, as promised but a week later, KanYe West unleashes the 'Power'-remix, featuring Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz. I like Yeezy's new verse but the only one I want rapping about "Oscar Mayer Bacon" is Nicki Minaj. Nicki, who also this week went into the studio with KanYe for her feaure on his upcoming album.

Spoek Mathambo & Gnucci Banana - 'Punani' & 'Animal' ft. Mash Up Int. & Spoek Joins ZDS on Their New EP

What else can I say, other than does Spoek Mathambo own this year or what?

His solo debut album "Mshini Wam" will be released on bbe in 11 days and I can't wait 'til I drop my review on you all as the album is an absolute joy from start to finish. His face graces the cover of latest issue of The FADER magazine and he is also featured on Zombie Disco Squad's new EP "We Should Bang Tonight". Have a listen right here:

Also, last weekend Spoek and his fierce wife Gnucci Banana tore Gothenburg and Nef down together with Mash Up Int. at Juicy Fruit, a one time club thrown by the almighty Ghazal. If you weren't there, here's (thanks to Mash Up) some great glimpses of the evening that you missed out on and if you were at Nef, a little something something to refresh your memory:

Speaking of the "this is for my girls who unbutton their pants in the club", the 'Ayoba', yesterday this nice remix from Yeah! Woho! dropped in my inbox, a bit dark and an absolute mayhem at the same time and just what you need for the upcoming weekend:

Sky Ferreira - 'Obsession' (prod. by Ryan Tedder)

Sky Ferreira just put out the full stream of her debut single for the US market on her MySpace-page, click or listen below. As said, it's real easy to digest, extremely pop and produced by Ryan Tedder (the man behind Beyoncé's 'Halo' among others). What's you verdict?

I still fuck with 'One', 'Obsession' leaves me kinda blank to be honest. Sky demands to be your obsession and it's not bad, it just is. Tailor made for the charts and radio, I just wish that big labels would put more trust in fresh new artists rather than going for a number one hit that will be forgotten in six months.

Anyway, Sky's voice is still #force and there's some brilliant lines in 'Obsession' like:

"Ain't nothing wrong with OCD, as long as it's for me".

'One' and all the good remixes (esp. Style of Eye's and BAR9's) will be released next week the 23rd.

Trey Songz ft. Nicki Minaj - 'Bottoms Up' Official Video

Anna Nicole Smith impression or not, Nicki Minaj looks phat as always, the video is a display of Trey Songz' vision of a fun-house, directed by Anthony Mandler and Trey's new album, "Passion, Pain & Pleasure", hits stores worldwide September 14th:

Caspa ft. Mr. Hudson - 'Love Never Dies (Back For The First Time)' Official Video

Proper Version of Nicki Minaj's - 'Ice Cream Man' (prod. by Zaytoven)

Wow, spent this morning filling in dreary paper work, I really hope that we will change government after the election in September, this shit is so crazy and fucked up it's absolute ridic. Gained a massive headache already and it's not even noon.

Nuff whine, at least this cheered me up a bit, the tagless version of Nicki Minaj's 'Ice Cream Man', produced by Zaytoven that leaked off that mixtape some weeks ago. 'Ice Cream Man' will not appear on "Pink Friday" but it's still damn nice, simple and nice, and just how I wish the rest of this day will develop. #SimplicityFTW.

KiD CuDi - 'Mr. Rager' & 'Mojo So Dope' off "Man On The Moon II" & Proper Version of 'Wylin Cause I'm Young' ft. KanYe West

Can't wait 'til tomorrow when Perajok and KanYe West will release Perajok's "G.O.O.D. Ass Mixtape" after four years in the making. So syced! 'Wylin Cause I'm Young' dropped yesterday and had some tags, here's the tagless proper version.

Perajok also unleashed the full version of KiD CuDi's 'Mr. Rager' (produced by KanYe) taken from Cudder's upcoming album "Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager" that drops the 26th of October. The first single off the album 'Erase Me' will drop on Tuesday.

And last but not least since I haven't featured it yet, the Emile-produced 'Mojo So Dope' that dropped a couple of weeks ago.
