Lil Jon is a Crunk/Rock/Dance Shapeshifter

Yesterday I wrote that I would chose dance over slow r&b-jams any day. And I do, but then on the other hand, there's dance music and there's _dance_ music.

Lil Jon's LONG awaited (second today) rock oriented album "Crunk Rock" seems to turn out to be an dance album instead and I'm not sure how I feel about it all really. Sure, I could be the head cheerleader of the rock/rap-hater team but I'm not feeling dance/rap that much either. What I wish from Lil Jon is that he would crank out some crunk, and no, not in liquid form.

The whole "Crunk Rock" appear very confusing to me, not exactly cohesive and held together. Messy and all over the place is two of the adjectives I would use right now. I know, i feel head over heels for 'Machuka' and a couple of days ago the video for 'Floor on Fire' ft. Pitbull & Machel Montano emerged but that's track so damn old I didn't care to bother BUT then I _loved_ the new team up with LMFAO on 'Outta Your Mind' and went back to hater-mode when this other new track with Pitbull produced by DJ Chuckie emerged just now. It's just... appalling really.

Sure, I admit, 'Give It All U Got' ft. Kee grew a bit on me, esp. the remix with Tinchy Styder but I don't think 'Work It Out' will. Or well, when it's summer and I'm drunk on pink bubbly cheap whine anything can happen. But until then, here's a great remix of 'Outta Your Mind' made entirely out of samples from the original track - no outside drums or nothing by Tha 1 Who Trevs ready for the club.

Well, "Crunk Rock" is done and I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the (proper) crunk ain't fully dead to Lil Jon (the album actually contains a follow up to 'Throw It Up' called 'Throw It up Part 2' featuring Pastor Troy) or if we only can expect this futuristic feel from now on.
