Silverlink's soca/grime smash 'The Message Is Love' ft. Badness and Jammer was one of THEM tracks of summer 2008 and the line "Please Don't Push Me I Want Nookie" was on my mind all the time. Now it's fall of 2009 but it doesn't matter, No Hats No Hoods thought it was only right to bring it back once again, linked up with some one of them hottest names right now, who all put the track into their blenders and voila: offering some pretty nyce remixes to the table.
The huge remix pack was released a month ago and features remixes from Mumdance (Southern Fried), L-Vis 1990 (Mad Decent), Starkey (Planet Mu), The Heatwave (Soul Jazz) and of course the grime remix master himself: Rudekid (No Hats No Hoods).
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this tune, but I still kinda hate them slow parts of the original, sure they contrasts to them other elements of the track and rehrehreh, but u know what? I don't give a flying fuck, they distracts me. They make me wanna do the "ironic-fist-to-sky-then-to-the-heart-in-pain-and-anger"-move and if I liked that kinda of dancing I would have signed up to a contemporary dance class, not a hyped club floor. Period.
However, my splitting hairs aside, the remixes tend to make up for Silverlink's bad taste of contrasts in their own way and here's the The Heatwave Remix, a grinding bashment version, which kinda evolves around my fave line and the contrast between hype and feet standing still is to my sheer luck, absent.
Buy the whole remix pack over here and if u feel the need for more JA vs UK shenanigans from Gabriel Heatwave, check out the Funky Bashment mix bringing together dancehall vocalists and UK funky producers.
