When the final version of KiD CuDi's upcoming third single that I've been hyping for some time now, 'Pursuit of Happiness' featuring neo-psychedelic-ish MGMT and electronic duo Ratatat, premiered Fridays on DJ Semtex BBC Radio 1 show, I was a bit tipzy and out, so yeah I missed it of course.
But today when I woke up, in the worst mood in months, (still hungover from that Friday night btw. I drank 3,5 beers... so not okay). I feel pretty fucked up at the moment, u know, like someone turned me inside out. However, I woke up and saw that CuDi had tweeted that the album whole album was leaked (on a full moon night...) and my tedious 6 hour long train ride back to Hultsfred suddenly felt much easier in a snap.
'Pursuit of Happiness' is the perfect 10, or well, it would be if it wasn't for that stupid, unnecessary and hella annoying "guitar"-solo at 02:55. Other than that, it's brilliant, a strong 9. Just them first 24 seconds... they almost make up for that shit at 02:55. Haven't had time to check the rest of the album cause of this track to be honest. But I will. The full review will be coming when the album is released officially the 15th.
Now I'm gonna sleep and hopefully wake up in a much more simple, happy go lucky mood.

this is Massive!
inlove
This is a beyond big!!!
I'm oblivious as to why you're dissing Ratatat's solo. They can easily be attributed to the smooth flow that makes this track work. In fact, they almost make up for Kid Cudi's quite mediocre rhymes. However, kudoes to him for coming up with yet another catchy chorus.
Ratatat can't be beat.
unstobable track
This is pretty excellent - gives me hope for another passable MGMT album...
all u guys loving this, make sure u cop the single when it drops and the album the 15th. SHOW SUPPORT!
the guitar solo saved this songs life. what the fuck are you on?
kid cudi is a terrible rapper, decent singer and pretty good hook writer, but as far as his choices for beats, genius, haha
beautiful melo-n-chol-iness. ha this track is one finga to the world, love it and i must COMPLETELY disagree with the "drunk and completely hung-over the day after, after 3-5 beers kid" ha that guitar adds another dimension to this all ready multi dimensional track --------chuch!
as ifffffffff. that guitar solo at 2:55 makes the song
Great Track, thanks for share!! keep the good work
You should check out a Ratatat album. This song is very typical of their style - might change your mind about that guitar solo.
so unimpressed. the "guitar solo" is a cheap ratatat rip off.
over mgmt.
how can it be a ratatat rip off?
Ratatat ripped off themselves?
lol erin you're retarded....
Erin, you are indeed retarded. Though I do not rate this song as high as the rest of you.
rad track - peep my blog later, will have full list of recent CuDi tracks for D/L - love the blog btw, made me a fan.
i think this is the most loved track i have ever seen on hype. almost at 2100
I can't believe Ratatat ripped themselves off... one guy goes to the bathroom and the next thing he knows the other guy has picked up his guitar and has hit the reverse record button.
FRANK>> HAHAHAHA!
Mike>> hypem going batshit crazy, 2293 hearts right now...
I don't see what all the fuss is about... and it's really upsetting me that I'm not getting the buzz everyone else is.
ratatat's solo does make the song. stop the hate.
you all would be much more impressed listening to a ratatat album than this. he pretty much just lifted their sound and put his name on it.
Is the song really that good, or did Hypem just blow it's load over the Ratatat/MGMT/Kid Cudi collaboration?
Definitely because of the collaboration. Its a good song, but it's not 3000-likes good.
what the fuck are you all on about! the guitar solo makes the whole song, ratatat, MGMT and kid cudi are all brilliant so whoever wrote this article doesnt know shit about music
