Exotic on the Speaker: Rye Rye & Ghostface goes Middle Eastern

Let's forget all about Sweden's and Israel's hostility towards eachother for a bit... It's time to unleash Soulico!

Comprised of four DJs from Tel Aviv, DJs Sabbo of Mad Decent fame, Rob, Shimmy Sonic and Wido, Soulico’s sound combines their trademark eclectic blend of energy-charged beats with a masterful fusion of everything from hip-hop, reggae and dancehall to Israeli folk and disco.

Yeah, it's sound strange and is quite... strange but not that hard to digest actually. They are now set to release their US debut, called "Exotic on the Speaker" on JDub Records October 6th.

The album features guest appearances by Ghostface Killah (on 'El Nur'), Del the Funky Homosapien, MIA's protege Rye Rye (on the album title 'Exotic on the Speaker'), Pigeon John & Ceci Bastida (on S.O.S), MC Zulu (on 'Queen of Hearts') and Middle Eastern MCs Tomer Yosef (of Balkan Beat Box), Onili, Saz and more.

It took me about 1 minute to adjust to Rye Rye on Israeli folk, 2 to find Ghostface Killah + Israeli rap + disco a good combination. Soulico are a very strange encounter indeed, but yet so loveable!
