Kano's Anthem for 2009 is 'Rock N Roller'

My question is: why do all rappers wanna claim rock and roll to their left and their right all of a sudden? Just cause of Weezy and them lot? The typical bad boy attitude that makes it legit to throw out an tv-set from the hotel window? Read that Motley Crue biography one time too many? Or what? Please someone, enlighten me.

Kano earlier this summer jumped on Jay-Z 'D.O.A'-train but with auto-tune and attempted to kill everything and everyone. Back then I thought it was brilliant but he has been brutally slayed by Hedonis Da Amazon, who absolutely murders all competition with her version of 'D.O.A'.

Now Kano's back with his new upcoming single 'Rock N Roller' (from his forthcoming 4th album) which is hyped up to be the new anthem with bold capital letters. Tune is alright, it's kinda catchy, a whole lotta auto-tune but I don't get it, I feel let down.

"My credit don't crunch, My swagger's insane, No blue suede shoes just my Adidas trainers but I'm still Rock N Roll"

Yeah, u may insert my puzzled face over here.

Sure, it will grow on me but it's far from the K-A I know and love. The Kane that spat crazy on that 'Pum Pum'-riddim, who made magic along with DaVinChe on 'P's & Q's'. That boy who stood out from the rest of his peers, that on his 18th birthday was offered the chance to make the leap from the underground and N.A.S.T.Y. to the mainstream in the form of a record contract with 679/Warner. Knocking back promising prospects in sport and academia, the young MC made the transition to an artist and accepted the proposal – and he has never looked back. Until now, cause this is just mediocre.

One thought that came to mind while I was listening to the second reload on Mista Jam's show, the track feels like when u take an act that don't fully belong and put them in the Eurovision-contest field. A bit too adapted. A cheap shot. Any Swedes will know what I mean if I say: Bert Karlsson.

'Rock N Roller' also feels like Lazee's 'I'm Not Pop' obnoxious little brother, the copy catting pain in the ass. Not saying that it is, but it has sort of the same feel to it, but some levels behind.

Sorry for the massive hating. But change isn't always good and 'Rock n Roller' is the perfedct example of: If it's not broken - DON'T FIX IT! However, my guess is that 'Rock N Roller' will bring great money when it's being released in October and that it will be climbing big steps up the charts.

Thankfully for me Kano still has his pretty face left to rely on to make us girls scream, cause I won't scream for this tune, that's for sure.

I actually haven't heard this track but just thought I'd comment that 'Don't Know Why' from Home Sweet Home takes a sample from Black Sabbath's War Pigs, or it might be from the Faith No More cover, so he ain't jumpin on any band wagons ha, he's been tryin to hit that rock market since day one.

Likin the blog though you seem to know your hip hop.

I agree Felicia. I've been a fan of Kano since I heard "P's & Q's". This isn't his style for sure. Just prayin the whole album isn't like this track.

His old stuff is dope, but if you're in the game you have to innovate. Rock N Roller is the tune for the charts, hold tight for the rest of the album.

The NWMOS tune they played on Raskwame's show sounded good! (Think it's on his YouTube or the GrimDaily blog).
